RSG is excited to spotlight Suzy Kim, a Director whose dedication and expertise have made a significant impact on housing and economic development across California. Since joining RSG in 2006, Suzy has worked with over 90 jurisdictions, from rural communities to major metropolitan areas, providing strategic solutions in affordable housing, fiscal health, and economic development growth.
Suzy’s work spans a wide range of critical initiatives, including developing economic development strategies, drafting affordable housing policies, underwriting financing requests, and ensuring compliance with affordable housing regulations. She has led projects that support low-income homeowners, guided city property marketing efforts, and strengthened the financial sustainability of public funds. Her ability to navigate complex housing and economic development challenges with precision and care has made her an invaluable partner to cities and agencies statewide.
Suzy is a recognized expert in Federal and State relocation, having successfully relocated both residential and commercial tenants for various municipalities, including the cities of Glendora, Lake Forest, San Carlos, San Pablo, and the County of Orange. Her deep understanding of housing policy has also led her to assist cities like Pinole, Pleasant Hill, and Merced in designing and implementing effective affordable housing strategies. Relocation Services is a cornerstone product line at RSG, with Suzy playing a key role in leading that effort.
“I feel lucky to work at a firm where I am regularly inspired by my colleagues, clients, and community members. We tackle challenges that have a direct impact on people’s lives. I’m proud to increase access to housing and public services, generate jobs to build wealth, bring much needed financial resources to fund programs, and shape the landscape of the communities we serve.”
Suzy is actively involved in industry organizations such as the California Association for Local Economic Development (CALED), the Non-Profit Housing Association of Northern California (NPH), and Housing California. Her contributions to legislative advocacy and policy development have helped shape resources and tools that support economic and housing initiatives across the state.
With a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from UC Irvine and a dual Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Asian American Studies from Scripps College, Suzy brings both analytical expertise and a deep understanding of community needs to her work. Based in the Bay Area, and the backbone of our Oakland Hub, Suzy leads efforts that foster housing stability, economic opportunity, and vibrant, sustainable communities.
RSG is honored to have Suzy on our team, driving meaningful change and helping jurisdictions achieve their goals.
