The 2020 Share Our Selves Adopt A Family Program

As we wind down from the holidays, we reflect on the many opportunities we had in 2020. Especially during such a critical time, RSG was honored to once again partake in the Share Our Selves Adopt A Family program, as they celebrated their 51st event (and the first socially distant one!). With the help of local school districts, Share Our Selves connects community members and businesses with families in need of extra support during the holiday season. Through everyone’s collective efforts, the 2020 program was able to provide for over 800 families.

Since 1969, the local nonprofit has worked diligently to provide health/social services, food, homeless assistance, and more in the Orange County area. Share Our Selves additionally offers seasonal programs to assist the low–income and homeless community. The Adopt A Family program is just one of the many outreach programs that Share Our Selves offers to local individuals and families.

Seasonal Programs Include: 

  • First in Family College Readiness Program – The program provides assistance to first-generation college students from low-income families. 
  • Back to School Program – Each August, ShareOur Selves distributes backpacks and school supplies to students. 
  • Thanksgiving Food Distribution – During Thanksgiving week, the SOS Food Pantry collects, fills, and distributes bags of food items. Families & individuals receive bags filled with items like turkey, chicken, and additional holiday fare for their celebrations.
  • Fundraising Events & More –Over the course of the year, SOS provides local families with assistance in a variety of educational and fun events.

We are thrilled to support them in their mission to help Orange County families in need. While there may be some uncertainties in this New Year, there is also a sense of strength we find in coming together.
