Jurisdictions are faced with larger than ever RHNA requirements and many are running out of vacant land to construct affordable housing to meet the needs of the community. As a result, the need to redevelop properties with existing tenants is increasing and while displacement is a sensitive matter, it is sometimes unavoidable to achieve development goals.

In 2023, RSG helped 12 residential tenants relocate from a Solana Beach residential community that will be redeveloped into a new 260-unit apartment community, 32 of which will be affordable senior units. RSG provided residents with a weekly list of available replacement housing listings tailored to their individual preferences, informed residents of their eligibility for relocation benefits, assisted residents with rental applications, and provided general hands-on support to make their relocation as seamless as possible. We are proud to have successfully relocated all 12 residents to safe, comparable homes within their desired areas. One resident was even able to utilize their relocation benefits for a down payment to purchase a home!
